According to the German Government Bl level is enough to get along well enough with the Germans in case you are looking for citizenship in Germany. One Can understand the main points when standard language is used and the main focus is on familiar topics associated with work, leisure time, school, etc.

After this level Learner would be able to understand the main
contents of complex texts on concrete and abstract topics;
Student also understands specialised discussions in his/her own
primary area of specialisation.
